Hi {{first_name}},
After an afternoon of doom scrolling, I thought to myself, "What is a good palate cleanser?" and I remembered how much I loved this movie. And while watching it again, I remembered that laughter is contagious. And it's inspiring to watch two men of different faiths find many reasons to have joy and happiness in spite of the struggles they've been through.
This week's conscious media pick is a delightful & restorative feature documentary about the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu spending five days together, mostly making each other laugh.
They're from different religious faiths, from almost opposite sides of the world. They grew up very differently, yet had such a strong friendship, one that leaves us with many nuggets of wisdom and some practical application ideas too. It grew out of “The Book of Joy,” which the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Tutu wrote together.
So watch this on a day when the news has gotten to you.
It's ninety minutes of two men who had every excuse to be bitter, being the opposite of that, and explaining how.
Produced by four Academy Award winners, and a who’s who of EPs including the fantastic Geralyn Dreyfous, Regina K. Scully and friend Tommee May. It's directed by Louie Psihoyos, whose "The Cove" won the Oscar for Best Documentary.
Give it a watch when you want to feel better about humanity, you're looking for some inspiration, or you're wanting a dose of resilience.

About the survey
And one more thing, if you have a few minutes, there's a short founding community survey waiting for you. It sounds like you might already be one of the people I'm building this for. I read every response personally. Come tell me who you are and what you care about. There is a little breadcrumb there you might enjoy… it is a wonderful life, isn't it?
