Hi {{first_name}},

Episode 4 is here, and it starts in a way I did not expect.

Years ago, a psychic teacher of Jamie Wozny's told her he was going to prescribe her one thing. Go home and watch Netflix. Be more human. Enjoy yourself. At that point she had cut TV and movies out of her life completely, because everyone in her world had told her those things were spiritually bad. She says she was so grateful someone gave her permission, because media can be a healer.

Jamie is an intuitive healer, channel, modern-day priestess, and transformational coach, and the CEO of Divinely Human. She works with both people and animals. For many years her main focus was her acting career in Hollywood. Then she became mysteriously sick and no one could explain it. That led her into the wellness space, which became the foundation of her life's work. She has led retreats internationally, taught at The DEN Meditation, and collaborated with NBC, Hulu, Sony and Shonda Rhimes' Shondaland.

What surprised me is what she shared about shame in some spiritual communities around consuming media. I had no idea. But she is not interested in abstaining. She loves being a human, she loves shows, she loves the way they make her feel.

She is just deliberate about what she watches and listens to. There is one type of movie she will not watch at all. One habit she has if she thinks media might be too jarring or heavy for her. And a choice she often makes that you could try tonight for yourself.

Then, when we were talking about the creative spark, she said this. I had to ask her to repeat it.

"I believe that the feeling of inspiration is a direct telephone line to the highest source of abundance, the highest source of love." - Jamie Wozny

She shared many nuggets of wisdom any creator can use tomorrow, including a question she dares you to ask yourself before you make anything, whether that is a film, a post or an email. She says you can feel the answer in the finished product, and that every time she has ignored it, it was crickets.

Imagine, she says, if every creator paused and asked it before they started.

About the show

“Convos About Conscious Media With Kia” is a guided expedition into the conscious media landscape: solo episodes on research, ideas, and what I'm learning, plus conversations with filmmakers, festival programmers, distributors, audience members, and the experts shaping this category from the inside. As the episode count grows, we will collectively discover what conscious media is. All of its facets and nuances. Not because anyone handed you a definition. Because we built it together.

One last thing. Share this episode with one person. Somebody on a healing journey, somebody who makes things and wonders where they're making them from, somebody who's been told the things they love to watch are bad for them. You probably already have someone in mind.

I'm so glad you're here for this!

P.S. Watch consciously, and notice what happens. 😃
